Shell Mileage Marathon transmission devolopment trophy

Scootacars

Scootacars were originally used in fair ground rides, these were then taken to the roads for use there on a daily basis. They had engines up to 250cc and no suspension.

Scootacars were made with streamlined bodies like the photo below.

The wheels were usually smaller, There is a marque with the name scootacar as well.  The Peel 50 is a scootacar.
Photo below

Then smaller again is the monkey car which was a slot car that carried a live monkey

I am no expert on the subject but I hope this helps
Other small cars can be found under Shell Mileage Marathon.

Cycle car or cyclekarts

Cycle cars are machines built from bicycle and motor cycle parts and usually had small engines but the Bedelia cycle cars had larger engines up to 1200 cc.  The micro car market are cars usually only had 1000cc engines and were specifically a car. From here you entered the car market with any size engine.
Scootacars were originally used as fair ground rides and were then made for the roads.

Now cyclekarts are home grown hand made cars with the unwritten rule of about 200cc and made to look like a cycle car or of something larger made small. There is no rules just have fun and enjoy one's self, The other rule is no one gets hurt.
Go karts are specifically for racing and there is two types dirt and on road. There is some new classifications streamlined and gearbox jobs. as well.
Then there is dune buggy's which are specifically driven on sand and dirt roads elaborate ones are road registered.
Mopeds were vehicles with two or three wheels with and engine size of up to 50cc and power output of only 200 watts which are legally driven on roads with out a license or insurance.
There are some who would like to ban these as there has been some deaths on the roads in NSW Australia in recent weeks. These were driven by youngsters at night with out lights or safety helmets or the permission of there parents.
I hope this my clarify things in some peoples minds.
I forgot to add in the 1/4 midgets which were raced on speedway tracks and had motor bike engines usually 500cc and they ran like a scalded cat. Some photos can be seen here.http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210638

I have edited this as I was proved wrong so I hope the revised information helps.

I just happen to know a bloke with this type of suspension ready to go.

Streetliner Cycle Kart (sorta)

I found the following at
Project Streetliner
I happened on Project Streetliner, a scooter based commuter vehicle, that I thought was worth mentioning here since it is “sorta” like a Cycle Kart. It is home-built, so in that capacity, it embraces the “figure it out and have fun doing it” mentality of Cycle Karting. The front end would also look nice on a Cycle Kart, especially if someone would tackle a wishbone suspension like the Streetliner, while maintaining a vintage look.  I am using an independent swing arm suspension, but utilizing a single transverse half elliptical leaf spring, so it will be in front of the body.

The rules for cyclecars

! have fun 2 No one gets hurt 3 Cheap 4 No competition These were the rules I had back in the 1980's when I started and are the ones I work by today. Simple for the dyslexia people and dummies out there which I am both.

Reverse

I have this old outboard motor leg and it has a simple forward and reverse gearbox and has fifteen horses driving the thing. I guess three hp wont trash the thing just a thought..

Name change

I have changed the name from Cycle cars Peddle cars and Tot rods. This is because the search engines do not find the site. The new common name is cyclekarts so I will go with the times. Cheers
