Marking out the wheel stud holes

Making the wheels

This shows the pointer used to find the center after the wheel is set to spin true on the jig, the wheel is not held down as there is no maching to be done.
This shows the jig made from a wheel bearing held in a vice with the particle board table for the wheel to sit on.
Setting the wheel true in the jig using a stationary hammer handle note the pointer arm (blue) that holds the pointer.

The wheel mounted on the hub.
This shows the front end and wheels attached.  The front end is ready to weld to the rest of the car. I have to make the rest first.

wheel bolt holes

I have been working on the space saver wheels and have completed three and bolted them to the hubs and they run true. I will get the tyres back on the rims in the day or so. making the new rim centers has been a case of careful marking out and welding. Jigs help. I made a spinning table from a car wheel stub axil assembly with a piece of particle board bolted on with the wheel nuts then placed the welded wheel on this all held in a vice. Then I set about running the wheel true then put a pointer above the wheel to find the true center and marked out the holes with good accuracy. I will get photos up in the next day or so.
