Project Streetliner

I happened on Project Streetliner, a scooter based commuter vehicle, that I thought was worth mentioning here since it is “sorta” like a Cycle Kart. It is home-built, so in that capacity, it embraces the “figure it out and have fun doing it” mentality of Cycle Karting. The front end would also look nice on a Cycle Kart, especially if someone would tackle a wishbone suspension like the Streetliner, while maintaining a vintage look.  I am using an independent swing arm suspension, but utilizing a single transverse half elliptical leaf spring, so it will be in front of the body.

! have fun 2 No one gets hurt 3 Cheap 4 No competition These were the rules I had back in the 1980's when I started and are the ones I work by today. Simple for the dyslexia people and dummies out there which I am both.

Reverse

I have this old outboard motor leg and it has a simple forward and reverse gearbox and has fifteen horses driving the thing. I guess three hp wont trash the thing just a thought..

Name change

I have changed the name from Cycle cars Peddle cars and Tot rods. This is because the search engines do not find the site. The new common name is cyclekarts so I will go with the times. Cheers

This is the road registered version

Placed first in the experimental section of the Energy Challenge. The wing was placed on the car for visibility on the road. It kept up with Sydney Saturday morning traffic but our support vehicle had trouble keeping up as spaces opened up for the little car. The car still has the Shell Mileage Marathon paint scheme. My old mate Alex at the UTS University Technology Sydney helped in the final stages in the set up of the car for the Energy Challenge. The where abouts of the car is unknown. Top speed was about 70k/hour as the car started to bounce on the front tyres, It was a rough ride and to sit in the car for any length of time was uncomfortable. When the car was in Orange in NSW the speed was great on the open roads. Just south of Orange at a small town we drove the car into the pub and they lifted it onto the bar for repairs. Several photos were taken in the pub by some but I do not have any. As stated in a previous posting I will build another one but that is after my gypsy wagon is completed. I am gathering materials for this build.
